The Role of The Teacher in E-Learning
“Technology is just a tool in terms of getting the kids working together
and motivating them, the teacher is the most important”

Definitely, Technology had advanced in all areas. Education is not the exception. Therefore, governments have implemented new ways that help students to develop their learning and also to receive an easy and guaranteed education. One example is E-learning.
Firstly, what is e- learning? E- Learning is a way of teaching and learning
in which the class is given through a computer; in other words, the classes are
not in a traditional classroom, and both, the teacher and the student, have the
facility to transmit and receive information even though they are far from each
other. In e- learning, the teacher develops the class like if they were meeting
in classroom, and students can interact, ask questions, and answer them like if
they were in front of each other. In spite of this new way of learning and
teaching, there is no doubt that you can ask yourself: what is the role of the
teacher? Let me tell you that the teacher is maintaining the same important
roles.
The role of the teacher in e- learning is to
control the group; he has to be worried about the attendance of the students
when students join on time, and he has to make sure the participation of all
the students. Also, he has to be the instructor; he has to tell them what to do
and how to do it. This can be one of the challenges of this kind of courses
because they can be a little bit difficult, but the students´ practice will
make the difference. Moreover, the teacher has to motivate the students to
learn and clarify any doubt. The role of the teacher in this kind of learning
is harder, and it requires teacher`s compromise because the fact that they are
not face to face makes the students be distracted, and they may lose motivation,
so the teacher has a harder job to maintain the students’ motivation.
Finally, as we can see, the teacher in any kind
of education will not change his role; he will be always important because the
students always need a facilitator. Although E-learning is a new way to learn,
it cannot change the teacher.
As a conclusion, E-learning is a great way of
learning because students have more opportunities to learn; besides, the role
of the teacher is always a facilitator, mentor, and supporter even though they
are not in a physical way. Moreover, he has more compromise to maintain
students’ motivation. There is no doubt that technology cannot substitute a teacher;
technology is just a tool to spread the learning.
